Kwakye Ofosu is running away from accounting for the gold, currency, cocaine busted - Ntim Fordjour

John Ntim Fordjour, the Ranking Member on Parliament’s Defence and Interior Committee, has made serious accusations. He claims government spokesperson Felix Kwakye Ofosu is avoiding accountability. This concerns gold, currency, and cocaine busts seized by security agencies.

In a strong statement, Mr. Ntim Fordjour rejected Kwakye Ofosu’s claim about an invitation. He stated that no security or intelligence agency invited him for assistance. He challenged Kwakye Ofosu to provide evidence of such an invitation.

Mr. Ntim Fordjour criticized the government for blocking his request for a Joint Security Briefing. He believes this briefing would have provided important updates on ongoing investigations. He accused the NDC Parliamentary Caucus and the government of shielding security agencies from accountability.

He questioned the government's motives, asking what they are hiding. He argued that refusing to hold the briefing was a deliberate attempt to avoid transparency.

Additionally, he pointed out inconsistencies in Kwakye Ofosu’s explanations about two suspicious flights at Kotoka International Airport. He described these explanations as incoherent and questionable.

Mr. Ntim Fordjour also accused the government of not disclosing information about 12 containers filled with gold and currency confiscated on February 9th. Furthermore, he expressed concern over silence regarding two major cocaine busts worth $500 million.

In conclusion, Mr. Ntim Fordjour insisted that the government's lack of clear answers suggests an attempt to hide crucial information. He vowed to use all parliamentary mechanisms available to demand transparency and accountability. He stated that Ghana cannot become a hub for cocaine and money laundering.
