Minister for Roads and Highways, Kwame Agbodza, met with Mr. Franz R. Dress-Cross. He is the World Bank Regional Director for Infrastructure. They discussed ways to improve Ghana’s road infrastructure.
The meeting took place today. It is part of the government's efforts to enhance connectivity and transport efficiency in the country.
They talked about several key topics. These included reintroducing road tolls and technical support for road contract management. They also discussed ensuring consistent financing for road maintenance through the Road Fund.
Budget considerations were highlighted for the Kumasi Urban Mobility and Accessibility Project (KUMAP). Other priority projects from the Ministry were also mentioned.
Agbodza emphasized the importance of road maintenance throughout the year. He stressed preserving existing infrastructure while developing new projects.
He noted that international partnerships are crucial for achieving these goals. Collaboration with institutions like the World Bank is essential.
Agbodza reaffirmed the government’s commitment to 12 major road projects under the “BIG PUSH” initiative. This initiative supports President Mahama’s vision to improve national road interconnectivity.
The goal is to bridge infrastructure gaps and promote inclusive development in urban and rural areas alike.
