Kwame Jantuah questions the need for Regional Ministers in Ghana

Kwame Jantuah Kwame Jantuah

Kwame Jantuah, a member of the Convention People’s Party (CPP), has raised concerns about the practice of appointing ministers from every region in Ghana, arguing that expertise and sector knowledge should take precedence over regional representation.

Speaking on Morning Starr, Jantuah emphasized that appointing ministers without relevant experience often leads to inefficiency in governance, as ministers may take years to familiarize themselves with their roles.

While he acknowledged the competence of some ministers, including those in Agriculture, Fisheries, and Youth, he criticized the practice of political appointments based on regionalism rather than merit.

Jantuah stressed the importance of appointing individuals with experience and skills to ensure effective leadership and governance.
