Kwesi Pratt highlights unpaid NPP staff and party leadership crisis

Kwesi Pratt has highlighted serious issues within the New Patriotic Party (NPP). He expressed concerns about unpaid salaries and leadership direction.

On Metro TV’s Good Morning Ghana, Pratt noted growing dissatisfaction among party workers. Many are frustrated at the headquarters due to unpaid wages.

“Yesterday, I read a report from party members,” he said. “They claim they work at the headquarters, not in constituencies, and haven’t been paid.”

He mentioned that these grievances were shared on social media. One member posted about working without pay while funds were raised for a Thank You Tour.

Pratt did not explain why payments had stopped but hinted at possible reasons. “I have some ideas but won’t share them publicly,” he stated.

He then discussed changes in leadership roles after the elections. Dr. Mahamudu Bawumia's position within the NPP has shifted significantly.

“The leader of the party is now Mr. Stephen Ntim, National Chairman,” Pratt explained. “He has always been the leader during elections and remains so in government.”

Pratt emphasized that Dr. Bawumia is no longer the party's sole candidate for president. “He is now in the same position as others seeking candidacy.”

He urged the party to focus on long-term plans post-elections. “The party should be preparing for election twenty twenty-eight,” he remarked.
