The Ghanaian government is set to disburse over GH₵200 million to approximately 350,000 households as part of the Livelihood Empowerment Against Poverty (LEAP) program. This initiative aims to provide financial assistance to vulnerable families, helping them meet their basic needs and improve their living conditions. The funds will be distributed in two tranches, with the first payment already initiated.
The LEAP program targets households that are extremely poor, particularly those with orphans, elderly members, and individuals with disabilities. By offering this support, the government seeks to alleviate poverty and enhance social welfare among marginalized communities. The initiative reflects a commitment to improving the quality of life for those in need.
Officials have emphasized the importance of timely payments and efficient distribution processes to ensure that beneficiaries receive the aid promptly. This financial support is expected to empower families economically and contribute positively to their overall well-being, fostering a more inclusive society in Ghana.
