LEAP disbursement underway: Minister monitors progress and addresses concerns

The Livelihood Empowerment Against Poverty (LEAP) programme has started disbursement. Dr. Agnes Naa Momo Lartey, the Minister of Gender, Children and Social Protection, is overseeing this process.

The minister visited various locations to monitor fund distribution. This ensures that beneficiaries receive their payments smoothly.

The LEAP programme offers vital financial support to vulnerable groups. These include the elderly, persons with disabilities, and orphaned children.

This disbursement includes two transfers: the 94th and 95th. These cover late 2024 and early 2025.

Dr. Lartey noted the enthusiasm of beneficiaries receiving payments. She acknowledged that while support may seem small, it can inspire hope for better opportunities.

Concerns have arisen about possible mismanagement of funds. Some individuals reportedly received payments without meeting eligibility criteria.

In response, Dr. Lartey encouraged anyone with information to report it. This will help make necessary changes to the programme.

The Ministry also plans to graduate beneficiaries who no longer need support. This will allow new eligible recipients to join LEAP.

These efforts aim to ensure the programme's sustainability and effectiveness in reducing poverty and promoting social protection.
