LG Electronics has partnered with the Rotary Club of Kumasi – Premier International. They have commissioned a solar-powered borehole for Ejisu Asaman. This project aims to provide clean water to the community.
The Ashanti Region community faces an erratic water supply. This issue is due to frequent breakdowns of their existing borehole. The borehole, built in the early nineties, has undergone several renovations. Regular repairs have drained the community's resources.
Many residents turned to streams for water until some dug private boreholes. Stephen Boamah, an Assembly member, noted that the only borehole has been faulty for a while. He said, "We have always experienced a shortage of water."
He added that relying on streams is unhealthy and they need a reliable source for domestic and commercial use.
Resident Akwasi Brobbey expressed concern about potential disease outbreaks. He stated, "Water-related diseases spread easily if our source is poor." The community is appealing to the government for long-term solutions while managing temporary fixes.
With financial support from LG, a solar-powered borehole has been installed. This initiative addresses both water needs and promotes renewable energy.
Katakyie Afrifa from LG emphasized improving lives in communities. He said protecting the environment is crucial as part of sustainable development goals (SDGs).
Afrifa mentioned that LG has focused on Ghana to enrich lives and is partnering with the forestry commission to promote environmental sustainability.
This project aligns with LG Electronics’ mission to meet critical community needs through sustainable initiatives. By investing in infrastructure, LG empowers communities to thrive.
The Rotary Club of Kumasi-Premier International encourages the community to maintain this facility. President-elect Avinash Lakhani stated that they can only continue supporting if the community uses what has been provided wisely.
