Labour department launches JOBS roadshow to promote free employment services

The Ghana Labour Department has launched the JOBS (Just One Bold Step) Roadshow Campaign. This initiative aims to raise awareness about free employment services. These services are offered by the Department and public employment centres nationwide.

The campaign addresses Ghana’s ongoing employment and career development challenges. It engages job seekers, employers, and employment service providers. It also promotes legal migration pathways and improves access to labor market information.

At the launch on April 30, Chief Labour Officer Dawuda Ibrahim Braimah spoke to journalists. He emphasized the department's commitment to its mandate. He encouraged job seekers to use the available services under this campaign.

“Ghanaians should expect excellent service from our department,” he said. “I will partner with GIZ for labor market information, job offerings, counseling, and skill training.” He expressed confidence in continuing this collaboration for the benefit of the people.

Charlotte Hanson, Public Relations Officer for the Ministry of Labour, Jobs and Employment, also spoke at the event. She mentioned that the campaign would help build a comprehensive database of job seekers. This will be done through the Labour Market Information System.

“One responsibility is generating data for government decisions,” she explained. The system was developed with assistance from the World Bank.

The JOBS Roadshow will travel across key regions in Ghana. It will offer career guidance and on-the-spot registration for job seekers. The initiative aims to connect skilled individuals with potential employers.
