The Government Assurances Committee of Parliament has sharply criticised the Lands Commission for not providing crucial data on public lands and their use over the years.
This information is essential to combat fraudulent activities, such as the illegal registration of government lands as private property.
Committee chairman Samuel Okudzeto Ablakwa highlighted ongoing difficulties in obtaining the documents, accusing some elements within the Lands Commission of obstructing transparency.
Lands Minister Samuel Abdulai Jinapor explained the delay, citing the Commission's historical reliance on manual records and recent efforts to digitise them, which have made compiling the data a significant challenge.
