Mr. Emmanuel Armah-Kofi Buah is the Minister for Lands and Natural Resources. He has directed the Lands Commission to decentralize its operations. This aims to solve issues like inaccessibility, delays, and land disputes within two months.
“Land is a critical asset for our people,” he said. “It is unacceptable that citizens travel far for basic land services.” The Minister believes decentralization will improve efficiency and restore public trust in the Commission.
He tasked Prof. Anthony Owusu-Ansah, the new Acting Executive Secretary, with leading this process. Prof. Owusu-Ansah must ensure all district offices are operational and equipped. They should handle land registrations, title certifications, and dispute resolutions on time.
Prof. Owusu-Ansah promised to support the Minister’s vision. “We will ensure Ghanaians can access prompt land services,” he stated. He sees decentralization as a step toward rebuilding the Commission’s reputation.
This action marks a new era in Ghana’s land administration sector. It focuses on accessibility, efficiency, and accountability for all citizens.
