The Minister for Lands and Natural Resources, Mr. Emmanuel Armah-Kofi Buah, has reached out to the media. He wants their help in fighting illegal mining, known as galamsey.
During a breakfast meeting with Editors in Accra on Monday, he emphasized the media's important role. He urged them to actively support the government's efforts against illegal mining.
This meeting followed reports of an attack on Forestry Commission officers. The minister aimed to clarify the issues surrounding illegal mining. He also sought media support to tackle this problem.
He encouraged journalists to be vocal and objective in this fight. He stressed that “the fight against galamsey should not be politicised.”
