Minister of Lands and Natural Resources, Emmanuel Armah-Kofi Buah, issued a strong warning to potential miners. He stated that mining in forest reserves and water bodies is dangerous.
At the Blue Water Guards' passing-out ceremony, he emphasized the government's commitment to protecting natural resources.
The Minister reminded recruits of their strict code of conduct. This code requires professionalism and integrity at all times.
“Remember you signed a code of conduct,” Mr. Buah said. “Any breach will lead to severe sanctions.”
He urged mining sector workers to maintain ethical standards. Their actions should reflect national interests, especially for environmental conservation.
“Exhibit the highest levels of integrity daily,” he added. “Your discipline affects the future of our water bodies.”
Mr. Buah warned that leniency is no longer an option. Future offenders will face serious consequences.
“Mining gold in our forest reserves and water bodies will be deadly,” he concluded.
