Lands and Natural Resources Minister interacts with Forestry Commission staff

The Minister for Lands and Natural Resources, Mr. Emmanuel Armah-Kofi Buah, visited the Forestry Commission on Wednesday. The visit took place at the Commission’s Head Office near Achimota Forest in Accra.

Mr. Armah-Kofi Buah is also the Member of Parliament for Ellembelle Constituency. He is currently touring various agencies under his ministry to learn about their operations.

He was accompanied by his Deputy, Mr. Yusif Sulemana, and other ministry officials. They were received by Dr. Hugh Clement Adokwei Brown, the Acting Chief Executive Officer of the Commission.

During the visit, staff members had a chance to ask questions and share concerns with the Minister.

Mr. Armah-Kofi Buah urged the Forestry Commission to create innovative strategies for revenue generation. He suggested drafting a strategic plan and partnering with the Ministry of Roads and Highways to build access roads to forest reserves.

This partnership could promote tourism in these areas. He noted that developing eco-tourism enclaves would attract visitors, especially on weekends.

Such initiatives could provide additional income for the Commission. If successful, this vision could strengthen their case for a remuneration review.
