A human rights court, led by His Lordship Abass Abubakari Adams, has adjourned the trial of Multimedia journalist Latif Iddrisu. The new date for the continuation is April 2, 2025.

This adjournment follows the case's adoption by the new judge. His Lordship Adams is the third judge to oversee this long-running assault case, which began eight years ago.

At the last hearing, Senior State Attorney Nancynetta Twumasi Asiamah raised concerns about missing submissions from May 12, 2023. She also pointed out spelling mistakes that needed correction before proceeding.

On March 25, when the case was called again, these same concerns were reiterated. After reviewing the previous proceedings, His Lordship Adams allowed corrections for two spelling errors but did not include the omitted objection.

He explained that since his predecessor did not capture it, he felt uncomfortable adding it to the record. Samson Lardy Anyenini, lead counsel for Iddrisu and Multimedia Group Ltd., stated that this omission was not significant.

He noted that the Senior State Attorney later accepted a previous decision allowing cross-examination of a second witness.

Latif Iddrisu was assaulted in March 2017 while on duty at police headquarters. The Police Administration claimed CCTV footage did not capture this incident.

Initially, they promised compensation but later withdrew it. This led Iddrisu and his employer to seek justice in court.

Eight years after his injury, Iddrisu continues to fight for justice while receiving medical treatment in California.

The Ghana Journalists Association has threatened to take Latif's case and Ahmed Suale's assassination to ECOWAS court if no progress occurs.

Latif Iddrisu will be cross-examined when the case resumes on April 2.
