Theophilus Dzimega Jnr, a legal practitioner and NDC communications team member, defended the search at Dr. Ernest Addison's home.
The former Bank of Ghana Governor's residence was searched amid controversy. The opposition New Patriotic Party (NPP) called it a "raid." However, Dzimega believes the search was necessary due to security concerns.
He addressed worries about CCTV cameras being disabled during the operation. Dzimega suggested these cameras were important to the investigation.
"It is alleged that the governor had a camera linked to his office," he stated. He explained that data from this camera may have been sent to his home.
Dzimega argued that intelligence officers would prioritize securing sensitive evidence during a legal search. "If someone comes to search here and finds my phone, they will take it first," he said.
He noted that targeting key individuals in investigations is not new. He compared this case to past instances where dismissed military officers regained influence.
"We were in this country when an officer was dismissed but later held high-level roles," he remarked.
Dzimega connected this situation to broader political strategies. He suggested it aimed to intimidate businessman Richard Jakpa, involved in recent controversies.
"The idea about the Jakpa case is just them getting the hawks around him," he asserted.
