Musah Ahmed, a private legal practitioner, has urged Ken Ofori-Atta to cooperate with the Office of the Special Prosecutor (OSP). He warned that Ofori-Atta's absence is causing public distrust and undermining the rule of law.
Ofori-Atta did not appear before the OSP on June 2, 2025. His lawyer, Frank Davies, said health issues were the reason for his absence.
On JoyNews’ News Desk, Ahmed questioned the validity of these health claims. He called for transparency regarding Ofori-Atta's condition. “If he is in the hospital, we need to know if it’s an emergency,” he stated.
Ahmed noted that many believe Ofori-Atta is avoiding accountability. “People think he is evading investigation,” he said. He added that this behavior suggests he may be guilty of an offense.
He emphasized that everyone should be treated equally under the law. “We do not have two sets of laws—one for the rich and another for the poor,” Ahmed explained. “The law is one; it is supreme.”
Referring to Chapter 5 of the 1992 Constitution, Ahmed stated that Ofori-Atta deserves due process and a fair hearing. “He is a citizen of Ghana and has every right to defend himself,” he said.
Ofori-Atta is currently involved in a legal battle with the OSP. In March 2025, he filed a suit against what he called an unlawful declaration as wanted. He also seeks removal of related content from the OSP’s social media pages. The Human Rights Court will rule on this matter on June 18, 2025.
Ahmed concluded by urging Ofori-Atta to respect legal processes and attend the OSP’s invitation. This would help avoid speculation and uphold justice system integrity.
