Lawyers representing the applicants in a contempt case against Deputy Inspector General of Police (IGP), COP Christian Tetteh Yohuno, and two other senior officers have publicly apologized for the embarrassment caused.
The case, which gained media attention, had not been personally served to the officers—ASP Alhassan Malaika Jibril and Supt. Bawa Alhassan—as required.
During the court hearing on January 31, 2025, the officers’ legal team stated they only learned about the case through the media.
Justice Kenneth Edem Kudjordjie criticized the handling of the matter.
The applicants, Theophilus Nii Teiko Tagoe and Samuel Nii Odai Quaye, insisted the legal directorate was served but still apologized.
The case is adjourned to February 24, with the officers excused from personal court appearances.
