Senior Vice President of IMANI Africa, Kofi Bentil, has urged critics to halt calls for the removal of Inspector General of Police (IGP), Dr. George Akuffo Dampare.
In a Facebook post on December 20, 2024, Bentil lauded Dr. Dampare’s leadership during the 2024 general elections, emphasizing his critical role in maintaining national peace without violence.
“His honest work has led to a tense election settling very quickly.
Things would have been far worse if he had not stamped his feet,” Bentil stated.
He described efforts to dismiss the IGP as counterproductive and warned of severe consequences for attempts to undermine national stability.
Bentil also referenced a Supreme Court case aimed at preventing political interference in security appointments, cautioning that any dismissal of security chiefs amid this case could be deemed unlawful.
