Senior lecturers at the University of Education, Winneba (UEW), plan to petition President-elect John Dramani Mahama to investigate Alexander Afenyo-Markin, Majority Leader and MP for Effutu, over alleged misconduct during his tenure as Ghana Water Company Limited (GWCL) Board Chairman.
Speaking on Taken Over News, Dr. Alhassan Salifu Bawah revealed their earlier concerns were submitted to the Office of the Special Prosecutor (OSP), but not formally to President Akufo-Addo. The lecturers intend to refile their petition once Mahama takes office, hopeful for decisive action.
The allegations include contract inflation involving GHS 14.8 million paid to Intermerc (Gh) Ltd for undervalued projects and a conflict of interest stemming from an alleged Toyota Land Cruiser gift to Afenyo-Markin.
Citing Article 284 of the 1992 Constitution, they stressed the importance of addressing such breaches to uphold public integrity.
