Alfred Thompson, a member of the opposition New Patriotic Party (NPP), criticized the government. He is concerned about the lack of transparency regarding Vice President Jane Nana Opoku-Agyemang's health.
On March 31, during a segment on JoyNews, Thompson spoke out. He noted that the public deserves more information. The Vice President was rushed abroad for medical treatment.
Thompson said, "If something happened on Friday, Ghanaians need to know." He emphasized that Opoku-Agyemang's health is important to the people. Nothing should be hidden about her condition.
He argued that public figures lose their privacy when they enter politics. "Everything about you is no longer private," he stated.
Thompson also criticized seeking medical treatment abroad. He recalled how the National Democratic Congress (NDC) opposed this practice when in power.
He mentioned comments from Okudzeto and President John Mahama in 2017. They questioned why officials would go outside for treatment.
On March 30, the President's office announced that Opoku-Agyemang had received care at UGMC. She suffered a sudden illness on March 28 and went to UGMC on Saturday.
Felix Kwakye Ofosu, Minister for Government Communications, provided an update. He stated that medical experts advised further treatment abroad for her recovery.
