Godwin Edudzi Tamakloe, the Acting CEO of the National Petroleum Authority (NPA), wants to end the controversy over Sammy Gyamfi's $800 gift to Nana Agradaa. He urged that the matter be put to rest after Gyamfi's public apology.
Tamakloe spoke on Face to Face with Umaru Sanda Amadu on Channel One TV. He praised Gyamfi for his quick response and timely apology.
He said, “My friend and brother, Sammy Gyamfi, apologized within 24 hours. I think that is the right thing to do.”
Tamakloe acknowledged that while the apology does not justify Gyamfi’s actions, it is a positive step. He stated, “I think it should bring finality to the matter.”
He clarified that although the apology is meaningful, it does not excuse the actions of the Ghana Gold Board CEO.
Tamakloe believes that acknowledging the mistake and apologizing should help ease public anger and concerns.
He added, “Having apologized provides no justification whatsoever. That remorseful spirit should assuage our people's anger.”
The controversy began when Gyamfi was seen giving Nana Agradaa $800 in cash. This sparked public backlash due to Agradaa’s controversial past.
