Let's avoid partisanship in pursuit of peace for Bawku

Former Vice President Dr. Mahamudu Bawumia has condemned the politicization of the crisis in Bawku. He spoke during the NPP's national Thank You Tour on Tuesday in the Western North Region.

Dr. Bawumia noted that the conflict has escalated recently. Some politicians are using it for their selfish interests, harming peace. He described this situation as "unfortunate."

He said, "The politicization of the crisis in Bawku is very unfortunate." Some people act for their own interests, not for stability. They spread lies about him being involved in violence.

"They claimed I was buying guns for Mamprusis to kill Kusasis," he added. This misinformation made him very sad when he heard it.

Dr. Bawumia suggested that even some NPP members believed these false claims. Over time, he believes God has exposed the NDC for spreading lies against him.

He stated, "The events in Bawku have shown that the NDC lied." Now everyone can see their dishonesty clearly.

"By God's grace, many have recognized the truth," he continued. Those who spread lies have been exposed now. He urged that no one should play politics with the Bawku issue.

Dr. Bawumia called for unity to achieve lasting peace in Bawku. He urged politicians to stop exploiting chieftaincy issues for political gain.

"As politicians, we must be careful with chieftaincy matters," he warned. The NDC's actions are now a burden on them.

"I want peace in Bawku more than anyone else," he concluded. He expressed hope that Otumfuo's mediation team will bring much-needed peace to the area.
