Let’s deal with labour migration in sub-region - ECOWAS Rep

Mohammed Lawan Gana is the Resident Representative of ECOWAS in Ghana. He has urged ECOWAS to create proactive strategies for labour migration.

He emphasized the need to anticipate future trends. These include climate change, democratic shifts, and technological changes.

Gana highlighted the importance of strengthening legal and policy frameworks. He also called for a review of migration laws and labour policies. This will help protect migrant workers' human rights and align with international standards.

He made these remarks at a three-day Regional Validation Meeting. The meeting focuses on the ECOWAS Labour Migration Strategy and Action Plan in Accra.
