Let’s join hands to boost  vaccine coverage - Prof. Akoriyea

Professor Samuel Kaba Akoriyea is the Acting Director-General of the Ghana Health Service (GHS). He has urged healthcare professionals, civil society groups, and local communities to work together. Their goal is to improve child health outcomes and increase vaccine coverage.

This call was made during the launch of the 2025 African Vaccination Week and Child Health Promotion Week. The event took place last Thursday. It aims to enhance children's well-being.

This year’s theme is “Every Child Deserves a Healthy Future; Invest in Your Child. Attend ‘Weighing’ regularly.” The focus is on raising awareness about free child health services. It also encourages regular visits to child welfare clinics across the country.

At the ceremony in Accra, Professor Akoriyea highlighted vaccination's critical role. He noted that vaccines prevent deadly childhood diseases and improve public health.
