Let’s stop the politics—NPP’s Justin Kodua pushes for independent investigation into suspicious aircraft operations

Justin Frimpong Kodua, General Secretary of the New Patriotic Party (NPP), has called for an independent Commission of Inquiry. This commission would investigate allegations of suspicious aircraft movements at Ghana’s airports.

Kodua spoke on AsaasePa 107.3’s Atumpan program. He emphasized that only an independent investigation can reveal the truth behind these claims. These allegations have been a major topic in public discussions recently.

“We are pushing for an independent Commission of Inquiry,” he said. “That is the only way the truth will come out.” He expressed distrust in information provided by the government, particularly from Kwakye Ofosu.

He noted that this issue transcends political parties and should be treated as a national security concern. “The security agencies are overstretched with this issue,” he added.

Kodua praised President Nana Addo Dankwa Akufo-Addo for his initial response. The President showed willingness to collaborate on investigations. However, Kodua criticized the President’s spokesperson for undermining this effort.

“I applaud the president for his quick response,” he stated. “But the spokesperson must be sacked for undermining him.”

His comments follow attempts by operatives of the National Intelligence Bureau (NIB) to arrest Rev. Ntim Fordjour, MP for Assin South. Rev. Fordjour had alleged irregular aircraft operations at some airports involving suspicious cargo and possible state official complicity. These claims have sparked intense controversy and public debate.
