Dr. Kwaku Ansah Asare, a former Director of the Ghana School of Law, has spoken out. He urged the newly reconstituted Council of State to handle the petition against Chief Justice Gertrude Araba Sackey Torkornoo independently. He emphasized that this should be done without interference from the Presidency.
In an interview on Morning Starr with Naa Dedei Tettey, Dr. Ansah Asare called the situation a “needless constitutional issue.” He encouraged the Council of State to act in the nation's best interest.
He praised the integrity of the new members. He said, “Despite being appointed by President John Mahama, I respect their composition.” He noted that it includes distinguished figures like a former speaker and a former Chief Justice.
Dr. Ansah Asare warned against external influence on their decisions. He stated, “Let’s allow them. Don’t let the president interfere or dictate their thoughts.”
