Licensed Gold Buyers charged to harness extended license transition deadline

The Chamber of Licensed Gold Buyers (CLGB) praises the Ghana Gold Board (GOLDBOD). They extended the deadline for the new gold trading license regime.

This decision follows requests from stakeholders in gold trading. They wanted to change the original deadline of May 21, 2025. The GOLDBOD agreed and moved it to June 21, 2025.

Kwaku Amoah is the CEO of CLGB. He stated that this extension allows current license holders to continue operating. This includes licenses from the former Precious Minerals Marketing Company (PMMC) and the Ministry of Lands and Natural Resources.

Amoah believes this decision shows GOLDBOD's commitment to stakeholder engagement. It supports participatory governance for sustainable industry growth.

He sees this extension as a chance for license holders. It helps them align with new regulations without disrupting operations.

Mr. Amoah is optimistic about collaboration between government and local buyers. This could enhance confidence in the industry and promote transparency.

He commended GOLDBOD for being responsive to stakeholders' needs. The extension shows their willingness to work together during this transition.

The Chamber encourages its members to take advantage of this extra time. They should reapply for new licenses under the current framework.

Amoah urged all license holders to use this period wisely. It's important for them to comply with updated licensing requirements.

The Chamber is ready to collaborate with GOLDBOD and other authorities. Their goal is to maintain integrity in Ghana’s gold trading industry while promoting ethical practices.
