Licensed surveyors partner with spatial planners to enhance urban development

The Licensed Surveyors Association of Ghana (LiSAG) has announced a new partnership. They are working with the Spatial Planning Agency. This collaboration aims to provide base maps for better city and town planning. The goal is to improve accessibility and promote sustainable urban development.

At LiSAG's 6th Annual General Meeting, President Mr. Samuel Larbi Darko spoke about the initiative. He emphasized the need for accurate and reliable data in urban planning. This effort aligns with goals for better infrastructure, economic growth, and efficient land use.

The two-day event is themed "Leveraging Base Maps for Urban Transformation and Economic Growth." It serves as a platform for professionals to assess progress and share expertise. Participants will also plan future strategies for the industry.

Dr. Yeboah represented the Minister for Local Governance at the meeting. He urged LiSAG to work with the Boundary Commission. This collaboration would ensure proper demarcation of internal boundaries, aiding local communities with clear mapping.

Special Guest Oklepeme Nuer Annor Baah Sasraku II addressed an important issue. He called on LiSAG to tackle unqualified practitioners in surveying. Eliminating "quack" surveyors will strengthen the profession's credibility and improve service delivery.
