Greater Accra Regional Minister Linda Ocloo is facing heavy criticism after monitoring revealed that many key roads in Accra remain in total darkness—despite her pledge to fix 70% of streetlights in 50 days.
Major routes like the N1 Highway from Tetteh Quarshie to Lapaz and Spintex Road show no visible improvement, leaving motorists and pedestrians at risk.
Commercial driver Kojo Tuffour described the situation as frustrating, noting that drivers rely entirely on their vehicle headlights due to the lack of street lighting.
Other poorly lit areas include the stretch between Accra Mall and Palace Mall, and from Ridge Roundabout to Parliament House.
While some areas—like the route from Parliament to Accra Sports Stadium—have seen minor improvements, large portions of the city remain neglected.
Residents are now demanding accountability, questioning where the promised streetlight installations are and when real progress will be made.
