Sulemana Braimah, Executive Director of the Media Foundation for West Africa (MFWA), has strongly condemned Onua TV for allowing Captain Smart to use incendiary language on-air.
He argues that such unprofessional behavior should never be tolerated, even in pursuit of high viewership and advertising revenue.
According to Braimah, it’s time for media owners to focus on producing quality, responsible content that truly serves the public. His comments follow a disturbing video where Captain Smart encouraged young men in Obuasi to invade Anglogold Ashanti, leading to deadly clashes with military forces.
This incident has sparked widespread condemnation, highlighting the dangers of unchecked media recklessness.
Braimah calls on media organizations to recognize that media freedom must come with responsibility, professionalism, and ethical standards, not just numbers and profit.
