The Greater Accra Regional Minister, Linda Ocloo, has issued a warning. She said repeated rejections of nominees for MMDCE positions could stall development.
Her comments came after the Ada East District Chief Executive nominee failed to get enough votes. This nominee did not secure the required two-thirds majority.
On May 8, 2025, Ocloo spoke to journalists about this issue. She encouraged nominees to engage assembly members before the confirmation process. This engagement could improve their chances of being confirmed.
Ocloo stated, “If you delay the confirmation, you delay development and progress.” She noted that many improvements have already started in these areas.
She explained that if the DCE is in position, they can lobby for jobs for assembly members. However, if there is no DCE in place, delays will occur through district coordinators or other means.
