MP received cash to suppress NSS corruption scandal –Dominic Ayine

Dr. Dominic Akuritinga Ayine is the Minister for Justice and Attorney-General. He recently spoke about a Member of Parliament (MP) involved in a corruption scandal.

At a news conference in Accra, Dr. Ayine said this MP allegedly received money to suppress media coverage of the National Service Scheme (NSS) scandal. He revealed that former NSS bosses paid this MP in November 2024 to keep details hidden from the public. More information will be shared as investigations continue.

Dr. Ayine noted significant progress in probing the NSS scandal. This follows findings submitted by Operation Recover All Loots (ORAL) on February 10, 2025. Eight individuals have been arrested so far, and many have provided incriminating evidence.

"Some suspects have started singing," he said, hinting at more revelations soon. He assured the public that his office will only proceed with prosecutions when there is substantial evidence.

Investigations into both the NSS case and the Skytrain scandal should conclude by mid-April. Legal proceedings will begin afterward.

In the NSS case, eight suspects have been interrogated, with many cooperating with investigations from the National Intelligence Bureau (NIB). Evidence shows payments made to top NSS executives by vendors and staff members. Dr. Ayine also confirmed that an MP was paid to silence media coverage of these issues.

His comments suggest that more high-profile figures may be implicated as investigations unfold.
