Gushegu MP Hassan Tampuli has raised concerns over the leadership style of Communications Minister Sam Nartey George, likening his approach to that of former Ugandan leader Idi Amin.
Speaking in Parliament, Tampuli criticized George’s handling of recent radio station closures, staff dismissals, and calls for directors to resubmit CVs.
He warned that the minister’s actions were exceeding his mandate and needed to be checked.
“What the minister is doing suggests that even promotions and salaries at the NCA may soon require his approval. We won’t sit back and watch an ‘Idi Amin’ emerge at the ministry,” Tampuli stated.
However, Majority Leader Mahama Ayariga dismissed the comparison, arguing that the minister’s actions were lawful.
