MPs urged to prioritise national interest over partisanship

Members of Parliament (MPs) have been urged to prioritize national interest. This is especially important during critical legislative processes. One such process is the vetting of ministerial nominees.

Dr. Frank Kulor, a lecturer at Ho Technical University, made this call. Ms. Ekua Attah Obimpeh, a lawyer and Public Relations Officer in Tema, supported him. Their findings were shared in a study sent to the Ghana News Agency.

The analysis highlighted issues from recent parliamentary vetting sessions. These sessions were marked by unproductive debates and confrontations. Such behavior undermines public trust in the parliamentary process.

The study is titled "Understanding the Role and Functionalities of Leadership." It emphasizes that MPs should set aside political affiliations. They must unite to effectively govern the country.
