MRI test is like a lottery - Black Starlets Coach

Age cheating has been a major issue in youth football in Ghana.

Recently, MRI tests have helped reduce these cases at the national level.

These tests have improved the integrity of the national pool. However, they haven't completely stopped individuals from changing their ages.

Frimpong Manso is the Head Coach of Ghana’s U-17 men’s national team. He spoke about the challenges of scouting due to age cheating.

He called the MRI testing process a “lottery.” This is because it can disrupt scouting efforts.

Manso said, “They say, man proposes, but God disposes.” He explained that selections may change after MRI results come in.

“You don’t know who’ll pass or fail,” he added. Until then, they cannot confirm how many players are eligible.

“We’re waiting to see what happens after the MRI,” he said. This will help them scout for more talent if needed.
