MTN Ghana celebrates CEO, Stephen Blewett’s one year in office

MTN, Ghana’s telecommunications giant, held a forum on Wednesday. The event celebrated CEO Stephen Blewett's first year in office. It took place at the company’s headquarters in Accra.

The forum was called "Time with Steph." This was Mr. Blewett’s first major media event since he started. Journalists, consumer advocacy groups, and telecom experts attended.

Notable attendees included Ken Ashigbey, CEO of the Ghana Telecommunications Chamber. JoyNews editor Emefa Apau moderated the event. It provided a platform for stakeholders to learn about MTN’s operations.

During his speech, Mr. Blewett stressed promoting local digital innovation in Ghana. He reaffirmed MTN's commitment to digital transformation and network improvement.

Mr. Blewett highlighted the need for homegrown digital solutions. He said developing local products is vital for advancing technology in Ghana. Supporting local entrepreneurs and enhancing digital skills is a priority for him.

He introduced the Ghana ICT Hub project launched in 2023. This initiative aims to improve the country’s ICT ecosystem in health, agriculture, and education sectors.

The hub is expected to be completed by early 2026. It will focus on skills development and job creation for youth in Ghana.
