Maaha Beach Resort still operational despite fire damage – Director of Operations

The Director of Operations at Maaha Beach Resort, Jean Jacques Mass, has reassured the public. The resort is open for business despite a recent fire.

On the night of May 28, 2025, a fire broke out. It started around 7 p.m. at the nearby Vision Beach Resort. The flames quickly spread to Maaha Beach Resort.

The fire damaged 15 rooms at Vision and 18 at Maaha. Located in the Ellembelle District, Maaha Beach Resort has been popular for nearly ten years.

Jean Jacques Mass confirmed the incident to Channel One TV on May 29. He stated that operations continue as normal despite the damage.

“Maaha Beach Resort is still running,” he said. “People should feel free to visit us.” He assured guests that everything is under control.

He explained that security guards called for help during the incident. The emergency team responded quickly but lost 18 rooms to the fire.

The affected rooms were on the far-right side of the resort. Out of about 190 rooms, only 18 were damaged, leaving most intact.

During an inspection by the Environmental Protection Agency, Mr. Mass emphasized safety for guests.
