Mahama Appoints Daniel Ashiamah As Acting Executive Director of Complementary Education Agency

President John Dramani Mahama has appointed Daniel Kwesi Ashiamah as Acting Executive Director of the Complementary Education Agency (CEA).

Mr. Ashiamah is a former Member of Parliament for Buem Constituency. His appointment comes at a crucial time for the newly established CEA. The agency replaces the now-defunct Non-Formal Education Division (NFED) under the Ministry of Education.

The CEA aims to promote inclusive, lifelong learning opportunities for all Ghanaians. It focuses particularly on underserved and marginalized groups. Established by the Complementary Education Agency Act, 2020 (Act 1055), it broadens the NFED's traditional focus on adult literacy.

As a corporate body, the CEA will ensure quality Complementary Education (CE) across Ghana. In his new role, Mr. Ashiamah will provide leadership and strategic direction. He will work to expand access to complementary education and create strong educational frameworks.

Mr. Ashiamah expressed gratitude for his appointment during an interview on Original TV. He thanked President Mahama and the National Democratic Congress (NDC) for this opportunity.

He said, “I would like to thank H.E. John Dramani Mahama for choosing me.” He also prayed for others waiting for similar opportunities.

Mr. Ashiamah served as MP from 2013 to 2021 and advocated passionately for education and social development issues during his tenure. His appointment has been welcomed by stakeholders in education.

Many view his leadership as essential for repositioning the CEA as a key driver of national development. As Ghana prioritizes education reform, Mr. Ashiamah’s role at the CEA is expected to transform lives through literacy and skill-building initiatives.
