Mahama Ayariga, the Member of Parliament for Bawku Central, is being considered for the position of Majority Leader in the 9th Parliament, replacing Dr. Cassiel Ato Forson, who has been nominated as Finance Minister.

If confirmed, Dr. Forson would vacate his leadership role, prompting the need for a new Majority Leader.

Ayariga's name has emerged as a potential successor, with discussions ongoing within the National Democratic Congress (NDC) leadership.

Ayariga, a lawyer, has previously served as Minister of Information and Youth and Sports under President John Dramani Mahama.

He was also a member of Ghana’s Parliament from 2005 and has held various leadership roles, including Deputy Minister of Trade and Industry and Education. His appointment would influence the NDC’s parliamentary dynamics.
