Mahama: My govt will set a standard no one can undo

President John Dramani Mahama has reaffirmed his commitment to effective governance. He believes this legacy will be unchangeable by future administrations.

During a meeting with clergy on May 23, Mahama spoke about reviving Ghana’s economy. He emphasized the need for strong democratic principles and decisive leadership. “With effective leadership, we can turn this economy around,” he stated.

Mahama highlighted the importance of long-term reforms. He wants to set a new standard for governance in Ghana. “By the end of these four years, we will establish a benchmark,” he said.

He aims for improvements that future governments cannot reverse. This includes restoring confidence in democracy among the people.

Mahama also responded to former Vice President Dr. Mahamudu Bawumia's comments. Bawumia questioned the NDC’s claim regarding the appreciation of the Ghanaian cedi. He asked for specific policies that led to this improvement.

Bawumia attributed the cedi's strength to past initiatives like the NPP’s gold purchase program. In response, Mahama dismissed the idea of crediting one policy for the cedi's recovery.

He argued that overall leadership is what drives economic gains. “It’s not about one policy,” he said, emphasizing effective leadership instead.
