Mahama: Vice President Opoku-Agyemang recovering well

President John Dramani Mahama has reassured Ghanaians about Vice President Prof. Naana Jane Opoku-Agyemang's health. He stated she is recovering well and remains in high spirits.

During the launch of a nationwide sanitary pad distribution initiative on April 24, President Mahama addressed her absence. He shared an update on her condition with attendees.

“I wish to extend the greetings of Jane Naana Opoku-Agyemang to all of you,” he said. “I spoke to her yesterday and told her we would miss her at this event.”

He added, “She said I should say hello to all of you. She is recuperating and catching a bit of rest. She is very well and will soon join us.”

Prof. Opoku-Agyemang’s health became a concern after she fell ill on March 28, 2025. She was admitted to the University of Ghana Medical Centre (UGMC) the next day for treatment.

On March 30, the Office of the President confirmed that she was stable after receiving necessary care. Felix Kwakye Ofosu, Minister for Government Communications, noted doctors recommended further evaluation abroad as a precaution.

Following this advice, Prof. Opoku-Agyemang began a three-week medical leave on April 7, focusing on her recovery and overall well-being.
