President-elect John Dramani Mahama has expressed surprise that the outgoing Akufo-Addo administration’s delayed payments extend to international companies, not just local firms.
During a meeting on December 19 with Canadian High Commissioner Myriam Montrat, she highlighted challenges faced by international companies over unsettled debts, describing it as a major deterrent to business operations.
Mr. Mahama acknowledged similar concerns raised by the U.S. ambassador, noting that American companies also reported unpaid contracts. He requested a comprehensive list of affected Canadian firms to prioritize resolving the issue.
The revelation underscores a broader concern about Ghana's fiscal management as Mahama prepares to address inherited economic challenges upon taking office.
