Mahama applauds Ato Forson and BoG boss for steering Ghana toward economic recovery

President John Dramani Mahama praised Finance Minister Dr. Cassiel Ato Forson and Bank of Ghana Governor Dr. Johnson Asiama for their efforts in economic recovery.

He expressed confidence that by August, when the Minister presents his mid-year budget, there will be more good news for Ghanaians.

Mahama spoke during a durbar at Wa Jubilee Park on May 15. He commended the Minister and the Governor for their teamwork in improving the economy.

He noted that early signs of recovery are already visible. Since taking office, his administration has focused on stabilizing the economy.

In March, they presented a budget aimed at cutting expenses and prioritizing key programs from their manifesto.

Mahama reported positive results from these efforts, including a stronger local currency and lower prices for goods and services.

Meanwhile, the Ghana Union of Traders Association (GUTA) and the Association of Ghana Industries (AGI) announced a 60-day period to reduce prices due to cedi appreciation.

On May 14, Trade Minister Elizabeth Ofosu-Adjare met with trade unions about calls for price adjustments.

GUTA and AGI explained that current prices remain high because older stock was purchased at higher rates.
