Mahama Appoints Bawah Abdulai as New CEO of Tamale Teaching Hospital

President John Mahama has appointed Dr. Abubakar Bawah Abdulai as the new CEO of the Tamale Teaching Hospital.

Dr. Abdulai is a senior official at the University for Development Studies.

His appointment follows the dismissal of Dr. Adam Atiku on April 22, 2025.

Dr. Atiku was relieved of his duties after an unannounced visit by Health Minister Kwabena Mintah Akandoh.

This visit was in response to the death of a patient named Bavug Salim.

The patient reportedly died due to a lack of a functional ventilator in the hospital's emergency department.
