President John Mahama credits recent economic gains to effective leadership.
He dismissed claims from the opposition New Patriotic Party (NPP). They suggested that past policies caused these improvements.
The President spoke during a visit from the Ghana Catholic Bishops Conference (GCBC). The delegation, led by Reverend Matthew Kwasi Gyamfi, congratulated him on his election victory. They also raised national concerns like illegal mining and education reform.
During his campaign, Mahama promised to reset the nation. He believes the support he received shows Ghanaians trust his vision.
He emphasized his commitment to restoring faith in democracy. Every action since January 7 aims to build this confidence.
Mahama assured Ghanaians that his administration is different from previous ones. His focus has been on addressing living costs and hardships faced by citizens.
Other priorities include stabilizing the economy and fighting corruption. He aims for more accountability in government and better conduct among leaders.
“We have fast-tracked these efforts in five months,” he said. “We are seeing positive responses, especially regarding the economy.”
When asked about specific policies, he stressed that effective leadership matters most. “With strong leadership, we can improve lives,” he stated.
Mahama is committed to setting a standard for future governments. He wants to ensure progress cannot be reversed after his term ends.
He assured the bishops that their advice helps strengthen his administration. It guides them in fulfilling their mandate from the Ghanaian people.
Rev Matthew Gyamfi presented various national issues for consideration, including illegal mining and governance reforms.
