Mahama backs Kwahu Business Forum to support 600 enterprises by 2029

The government is focusing on local business growth with the new Kwahu Business Forum. They aim to support over 600 businesses before President John Mahama’s term ends.

Chief of Staff Julius Debrah spoke to the media at Jubilee House on April 14, 2025. He emphasized the administration's strong support for this initiative. “We are discussing it at the presidency because of its importance,” he said.

Debrah noted that President Mahama wants this project to succeed. The forum started in Kwahu and has attracted interest from financial institutions. Participating banks will choose five promising projects this year.

“The first strategy from bankers is to pick five bankable projects,” Debrah explained. Next year, those selected will be invited back to share their experiences.

If this model continues, it could transform Ghana’s entrepreneurial landscape. “If each bank picks a minimum of five enterprises for five years, we’ll have over 600 by the end of his term,” he added.

While it's called the Kwahu Business Forum, there are bigger plans ahead. Debrah believes it could become a national event in the future. Business people from across the country may come together in Kwahu.

He also mentioned expanding the forum's scope to include agencies like the Ghana Revenue Authority. “Next year, we might have the Commissioner General of GRA explaining benefits to businesses,” he said.
