Mahama brings former Diageo Leader on Board Presidential Committee on Accelerated Export Dev’t

President John Dramani Mahama has nominated Gabriel Opoku-Asare. He will serve on the new Presidential Committee on Accelerated Export Development (PCAED). This committee operates under the Office of the President.

The President chairs this high-level advisory body. Its goal is to enhance Ghana’s international trade efforts. The committee aims to boost exports and promote Ghanaian products globally.

The committee includes experienced leaders from various sectors. Notable members are Hon. Goosie Tanoh, Hon. Ato Forson, and Hon. Elizabeth Agyare. Other members include Gen. Paul Seidu Tanye-Kulono and Prof. John Gatsi, among others.

Gabriel Opoku-Asare brings valuable expertise to this group. He has over 18 years of international leadership experience in trade and public policy. His previous roles span Africa, Europe, Asia, and North America.

Gabriel served as Director of ESG at Diageo North America. His work focused on agriculture, recycling, manufacturing, and sustainability initiatives worldwide. President Mahama recognizes his ability to forge impactful partnerships for economic development.

He co-founded the Africa Plastics Recycling Alliance and led Diageo’s “Society 2030” agenda. Gabriel also advises governments on policy and ESG strategy, making him a key asset for Ghana’s export goals.

Currently, he is a Partner at Nyinipa Advisory, which focuses on sustainable business practices. He holds degrees from KNUST, GIMPA, and the University of Leicester.

Gabriel expressed gratitude for his appointment after the committee's inauguration on Monday. He stated he is honored by President Mahama’s trust in him.

He believes Ghana has the potential to be a global export powerhouse. Gabriel is committed to using his experience to help shape a prosperous future for Ghana's exports.

The PCAED will collaborate with government ministries and private sector leaders. It aims to identify growth sectors and streamline export processes effectively.
