President John Dramani Mahama has given a directive to the new members of the National Development Planning Commission (NDPC). He wants them to combine existing national development strategies into one clear long-term plan.
During the swearing-in ceremony at Jubilee House on Tuesday, May 20, President Mahama highlighted the need for a unified national vision. This vision will guide Ghana’s development path.
He emphasized that the new plan should look ahead and reflect a broad national consensus. It must include input from Parliament and citizens.
President Mahama also suggested that the development framework undergo regular reviews. This will help ensure it stays relevant to changing national needs and global trends.
The NDPC is mandated by the Constitution to advise the President on development planning policy. It also coordinates national development activities across various sectors.
The newly formed Commission is expected to play a key role in shaping Ghana’s medium- to long-term development agenda. Its focus will be on sustainability, inclusivity, and resilience.
