President John Dramani Mahama has directed Finance Minister Dr. Cassiel Ato Forson to urgently address the $156 million funding gap caused by the suspension of the USAID programme.
A statement from the Presidency on February 11 expressed concern over the impact on critical health and social services, particularly a $78.2 million shortfall affecting malaria prevention, maternal and child healthcare, family planning, and HIV/AIDS treatment.
The funding cut threatens access to antiretroviral drugs, testing, and preventive measures.
In response, President Mahama has tasked the Finance Ministry with implementing immediate funding solutions to prevent disruptions in healthcare and social services.
