President John Dramani Mahama has directed the Finance Minister to allocate funds for the second phase of the Blekusu Sea Defence Project to curb flooding along Ghana’s coastline.
Speaking during a visit to Agavedzi in the Volta Region, Mahama assessed the destruction caused by tidal waves, which have displaced hundreds in Salakope, Amutinu, and Agavedzi.
“So I am going to ask the Finance Minister to include funding to start phase two of the Blekusu Sea Defence Project,” he stated.
Mahama stressed the need for a dual approach, urging both the immediate construction of the sea defense wall and the relocation of affected residents to a safer area.
